When to use voter Form 8

Form 8 is for specified requests by an elector who is already enrolled. Identify the request first, then check the current ECI form and document instructions.

Requests covered by Form 8

The Election Commission’s current Form 8 covers shifting residence, correction of entries in an existing electoral roll, replacement of an EPIC without correction, and marking an elector as a person with disability. The form asks the applicant to select the relevant request and complete the matching section.

If you are not yet registered as an elector, Form 8 is not the new-voter registration route. Use the ECI portal’s forms dashboard to identify the appropriate current form for your situation.

What to prepare

  • Your existing EPIC number and the exact entry that needs a change.
  • For a residence shift, the full current address and an address proof accepted by the current instructions.
  • For a correction, the supporting document that establishes the corrected entry.
  • For a replacement card, follow the form’s current guidance for a lost or damaged EPIC.

Review every field and declaration before submission. Use the ECI portal to file the request and keep its acknowledgement/reference number for official status tracking. Do not submit a request on behalf of someone else without their knowledge and accurate information.

What happens after submission

The Electoral Registration Officer and election authorities handle verification and decide the result. A private assistance centre may help with form preparation, but it cannot change the electoral roll, decide eligibility or promise approval or completion time.

This is an independent information guide from G1Seva, a private assisted service centre in Bidar, not the Election Commission of India. Check the ECI portal for the current process and the rules that apply to your case.
